United Nations Women's Guild 60th Anniversary Gala "Brides For All Nations."

United Nations Women’s Guild 60th Anniversary Organized by Chapters in Manhattan, Westchester, Queens and the U.N. Women's Secretariat. On November 5th, 2009, the U.N. Women's Guild is holding a gala dinner and dance to celebrate their 60th Anniversary of raising funds to benefit children in need around the world. The “BRIDES FOR ALL NATIONS” Gala Dinner & Ball BENEFIT will have dinner and dancing to the Mark Toback Orchestra. Special Event: Brides in traditional dress from 20 missions from Asia and the Far East, Africa, Russia, the Middle East, Latin America, and others, will walk down the aisles showing national wedding designs from Austria. Bahrain, Botswana, China, India, Namibia, Pakistan, the Philippines, Russia, more. Models are wives, daughters, granddaughters and members of the U.N. Women’s Guild and ambassadors. The Grand Finale to Brides for All Nations will show three head-turning bridal gowns by New York couturier Angelo Lambrou, representing the Western-style bride. Angelo Lambrou has a shop in the East Village and is recognized for gowns that have lightness of scale and a delight in originality. One model is a finalist in the upcoming Miss Teen New York USA pageant. Chairperson: Mrs. Uma Ruth Banerjee. Honored Guest: Mrs. Ban Ki-moon, wife of United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, and Honorary President of the U.N. Women’s Guild. Founded in 1948 by wives of U.N. staff to help children affected by WWII, the Guild acts under the aegis of the U.N., but raises funds independently. The UN Women’s Guild has grown to support upwards of 130 children’s charities worldwide, and has 43 international sister organizations. It is a non-profit (501 C3) tax exempt fundraising body.
