The Top 10 Things We Will Miss About Summer 201103:14 PM on September 1
It strikes me as rather ironic that a place as wealthy (admit it, folks) and as progressively-minded as the Hamptons should host a "White Trash" party without batting an overly mascaraed eyelash. I used to laugh at "White Trash" jokes, too, that is until I spent time getting to know some of "those" people personally through my job as a counselor to children of families in need. It's easy to make fun of people when we dehumanize them. There's a better way to have fun than at the expense of people living in dire poverty. Next time, how about using your imaginations more creatively and throwing a party that benefits the homeless children in our area, or teen moms that have been abused by their boyfriends. Any excuse to throw a party, right?
